The production of metals and metal products is of traditional significance for the Venice economy. In 2007 the sector was worth an overall export value of 700 million Euro, an increase of 23.7% compared with the previous year.

The goods produced are numerous: precious and non precious base metals, iron, steel and ferroalloys, construction elements, knives, cisterns, tanks, and metal containers, humidifiers, tubes, aluminium profiles for glazing, steel moulds for industrial use (for the automobile sector, sheared and pressed sheet metal, injected plastic mouldings), hydraulic and telescopic pistons, bar ducts, moulds for pre-cast concrete, brass tapes, bronze and brass laminates, prefabricated components for building and hydraulic engineering, unions for jointing tubes, road barriers, acoustic barriers and sound isolating barriers, ducting, scaffolding, expansion joints, slope protection, and retaining walls, platforms, anti-seismic supports, wine bottle capsules, steel radiators, stainless steel tanks for painting systems.
